Sophia Cavalcante, ChiWIP's Third Annual Scholarship Recipient for the Advancement of Womxn in Law and/or STEM Graduate Studies
We are pleased to announce that this year’s scholarship recipient is Sophia Cavalcante.
Sophia is pursuing her degree at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, with her degree expected in 2025. She received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Marquette University. Between undergrad and law school, she worked for the Milwaukee Justice Center where she enjoyed helping her community, particularly families with family law issues. She assisted people with extremely difficult situations such as helping with child custody and divorce papers and provided support for clients during difficult times. She later interned at Legal Services of Eastern Missouri assisting those who were denied Medicaid services gain access to health care coverage. At Loyola, Sophia is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society.
Sophia has a strong interest in pursuing a career in IP and has been clerking at an IP firm since January 2024. Congratulations, Sophia!
