​Molly Keelan, ChiWIP Chair

As both Founding Member and current Chair of ChiWIP, Molly Keelan is aptly our first Member Spotlight profile. Ms. Keelan’s naming as ChiWIP’s first member spotlight was largely due to her numerous and impressive contributions to the ChiWIP organization and Chicagoland community.  

Molly co-founded ChiWIP in 2015 as a gathering place for those with a common interest in the advancement of all women within the field of intellectual property. She is directly responsible for helping grow the organization from a handful of like-minded women with a mission to an organization comprised of several hundred IP professionals. Molly not only oversees the organization, but she also takes an active role in ChiWIP’s programming as Co-Chair of ChiWIP’s Community Development and Community Involvement Programs Committees. Her colleagues credit her success to creating mutually beneficial relationships and overseeing the growth of organizations as a whole. Molly is also responsible for the planning of recent ChiWIP events such as The Grit: Insights from ABA President Hilarie Bass event, as well as ChiWIP’s ever-popular Annual Girl Scout IP Patch Event.  

Outside of ChiWIP, Molly’s community and non-for-profit Board of Director involvement has developed over the last five years to include board positions with GirlForward, a nonprofit dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for young refugee girls who have been displaced by conflict and persecution in their home countries, and, The Women’s Treatment Center “TWTC” who serve indigent women who struggles with substance abuse and are mother’s caring for children during this recovery process  

Molly continuously looks for synergies between all these organizations what will serve the community in a meaningful way.  By way of example, Molly helped facilitate a sponsorship relationship and speed networking event with GirlForward.

In addition to her substantive list of community involvement, she is known for beings a highly creative and results-driven management professional with entrepreneurial passion, drive and vision for women’s issues, recovery and growth. For more than 20 years, Molly has consistently generated revenue within the legal industry and the local community.

In her spare time, Molly enjoys traveling with her family, do anything outdoors including running, biking and anything with movement! Ms. Keelan currently works as Director for Ocean Tomo, LLC, where she is the connector of leaders in the intellectual property field with excellent experts specializing in valuation and damages. In this role she uses her deep-seated experience across the IP legal and corporate industry to assist corporations and law firms to maximize value from their intellectual property.
